I’m Alex, a neurodiversity coach. I’ve supported lots of autistic and ADHD clients through Access to Work, especially when the process feels slow, unclear, or overwhelming. This guide is here to make things feel more manageable and help you go into conversations prepared.

What’s inside the guide

The guide walks you clearly through the full Access to Work process, from applying and arranging your initial call, to discussing your needs, negotiating the right support, and receiving your award letter. It then explains what happens next, including setting up your online account, submitting your banking details, and making claims properly using timesheets and invoices. You’ll also find suggested wording to help you answer the often difficult question, “How do your conditions affect you at work?”, with practical examples covering sensory differences, communication, organisation, focus, and social interaction.

Want help with your application?

If you want support with Access to Work
If you’ve applied (or you’re about to), it can really help to talk it through before your application is processed. That way you’re clear on what to ask for, and you’re not trying to think on the spot when they call.
